To create a more benevolent human presence on earth paradoxically we might need a more fierce, bestial, feral and wild presence on earth. We might need to connect with our animal senses and the wild Gods and Goddesses and beasts which live around us and inside us. We may need to cry out voluptously in grief, to leap up in exquisite untamed celebration or to assert ourselves with renegade ferocity. We may need to express the strange mythical powers behind our body symptoms and social problems if we are to find wholeness.

There may be a deep need for many of us to feel the pain of the world at present. We may need to gather together and support each other to feel the agony of the earth as a sensation or emotion coursing through our body. The pain of the earth could be vital feedback for us. It could be that through us feeling the pain of the world we might discover that we connected to the trunk of all life; our very rage could be a sign of our passion to protect the earth or our community, our very despair could also be an opening to a new unforeseen or previously unknown way of viewing reality, our very grief and heartbreak could really be a sign of our vast love for all life.

We might need to touch into our difficult body symptoms, suppressed feelings and social problems and find the mythic powers, the feral Gods that lie behind them, the instinctive forces in the psyche that are trying to find some kind of expression, and to integrate them carefully and respectfully. Or we may need to express them uproariously in wild dionysian celebration, in eroticism or in art. Or we may need to express them in socially benefically business initiatives, in ritualized fighting arenas and martial arts, in social activism, in local community conflict resolution dojos and gatherings, and in ceremony on the land.

To resolve some of our conflicts it might be necessary for us to not avoid conflict but to go deeper into it; to learn to communicate with people we disagree with or even hate and despise and to fiercely stand up for our own position whilst also taking an interest in the other side’s grief and their painful history too. We may need to take an interest in the other side’s trauma and grief whilst also standing ferociously for ourselves and our values too. We may need to create space for conflicts in our communities to be expressed. We may need to bring consciousness to the impossible undreamt emergent future and to the past too; to the voices of the ancestors and the ghosts of history that lie behind our deepest social and personal problems waiting to be seen, heard and recognized.

We may need ceremony, council and mutual support to be able to fully express the entirety of our wild being. And yet at present in our mainstream culture, much of what is a vital expression of our being is shamed. Excessive grief, especially for the world, is shamed, ferocity is shamed, the body is shamed and the strange animal powers inside us are shamed.

Often these powers, emotions and ways of being are pathologized. From the perspective of consensus reality, grief doesn’t contain the power to help heal the culture, body symptoms are not meaningful and nature itself is not meaningful or alive. In a sense our entire experience and the entire world is shamed or denied in the reductionistic view of reality. We may want to express our rage, grief, love for life or uproarious joy and yet are shamed if we do so.

The world where we believe that the body and nature is not intelligent, where magic doesn’t exist is something like the world of disconnection, the shame world. This shame world may have a grip on some of us but really it is an illusion, it is the unreal doppelgänger of the world. The non-magical world is an illusion. We may need to move from the shame universe to the blessing universe.

We may need to bless our relationship with flying ants, elders trees, pike, phytoplankton, the dead, the cormorant, the shoals of silver bass, the star strewn sky and the sky and animals that live inside us. To bless our conscious aggression, to bless our sob of grief, to bless our ecstasy, to bless our wild magic, to bless our pain. To recognize that when we bring tender attention to these things and carefuly reintegrate them it may bring us as individuals and as a community back to wholeness.

We may need to say to those who have been shamed: “Yes your struggle is real, your playful joy is real, your connections are real, your body sensations are real, your hurt is real, your tears are real; your tears feed your community, your tears feed the earth, your tears feed the gods, your tears feed us all, your tears feed the whole of life and they will regenerate it. They are like the ocean goddess whose tears are salty because of her grief and who gives all life to the world.

We may need to say: “Yes, this pain, this love, has power and medicine behind it, it is holy. To say Yes, this dreaming earth is the real reality, it is blessed and this body is blessed to be upon it. Yes, believe it, your tears feed the earth and give it life, your ceremonies feeds the sky and the earth, your mythos is real, your mythic journey feeds us all”

The more beautiful world our hearts know is possible, the age of reunion, may hide like a seed within the world of disconnection or wetiko, which incubates it; wetiko may be like a kind of folded up, unprocessed, unattenuated or larval form of the more beautiful world.

I feel the sacred and connected lives within the non-sacred and disconnected in a form something like a chrysalis; the unsacred and disconnected may need to be touched with consciousness to be unfolded like a trauma response trapped in the body where the movement or energy needs to somatically unfold and be slowed down in order to discharge and complete itself.

A body symptom or illness may need to be touched with tenderness and the power behind it accessed in multiple sensory channels before it unfolds like a flower and the medicine powers and benevolent myth beings that are hiding behind it reveal themselves. Polarization is often necessary before negentropy and depolarization, conflict resolution and communication and mutual collaboration between antagonists can occur. The world of disconnection or Wetiko may be something like the brief and highly competitive stage of bramble, bracken and other pioneer species which comes about before the more mutualistic co-operative climax vegetation of a forest.

The shaman has to go through a stage of ‘divine madness’ where he or she is exposed to the chaosmic vortex of the spirit world to develop a deeper relationship with that world before healing others. To put it in terms of systems theory, out of control ‘positive feedback loops’ may be a necessary stage to go through before homeostatis at a deeper level of complexity and integration is achieved. Similarly the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible, the age of reunion, may hide like a seed within the world of disconnection or wetiko, which incubates it; wetiko may be like a kind of folded up, unprocessed, unattenuated or larval form of the more beautiful world.

Come FROM your dream or calling instead of desperately grasping towards it

You don’t necessarily need to push or strive to reach some perfect dream or calling. Instead of pushing or ascending towards it, another way is to BE that dream or calling. Come FROM that dream instead of desperately grasping towards it; live it with allies and friends now. Embody that calling in your very muscles and bones, and invite others to share in it and meet you there if they feel moved to.

The endless ascent towards some perfect place may be deluding us. The endless search for some false transcendent state, something higher, some perfect state of personal power, strength, approval, wealth, status, economic growth, transhumanism or spiritual development looks promising, but what if this is not leading us towards some promised land, but towards a barren wasteland? What if the source of life is simply not found there, but is found when we descend downwards towards our vulnerability, towards sensory embodiment, towards our relationship with our ecology, towards the powers behind our shadow energies, towards grief and life with all its troubles, magnificence and imperfections?

The endless ascent towards some perfect place may be deluding us. The endless search for some false transcendent state, something higher, some perfect state of personal power, strength, approval, wealth, status, economic growth, transhumanism or spiritual development looks promising, but what if this is not leading us towards some promised land, but towards a barren wasteland?

What if the source of life is simply not found there, but is found when we descend downwards towards our vulnerability, towards sensory embodiment, towards our relationship with our ecology, towards the powers behind our shadow energies, towards grief and life with all its troubles, magnificence and imperfections?

Perhaps it is our vulnerability not our perfection that will draw our soul community towards us. Perhaps our quest for perfection and ascent will in fact lead us away from the sacred fire where our soul community is waiting for us. Perhaps our attempt to reach some perfect status or safety or health or spiritual state before meeting our sacred lover will in fact ensure that we never meet them, or never come into relationship with them. Perhaps it is our vulnerability, not our perfection that will draw us into the warm embrace of our greatest lover.

Perhaps our vulnerability and our grief and joy and love will shine out like a beacon fire and draw our true loves towards us. Perhaps it is our vulnerability and our intimacy with life which will enable us to redream our human presence on the earth into a regenerative, mutually beneficial relationship with the beings of nature and with each other.

Instead of ascending further we might need to go back the other way. Stop the ascent and instead descend downwards into paradise. Descend downwards towards your vulnerability, towards relationship, towards your grief, towards your uproarious joy, towards your imperfection. Descend downwards towards your sensual body, towards your relationship with local animals and plants and find the circle of warm hearted community who have always been waiting for you.

Don’t run away and be alone again, don’t just run away to that high timeless place, don’t run to that retreat, when your soul family are all here waiting for you, right here, or not far away. Do something wild and outrageous and be with community instead. Come down to the great, celebratory tear-filled feast of life, the house of the world. Your soul community are here waiting for you, you don’t need to be alone again. Give up the desire for immortality, ascent and perfection and instead choose vulnerability, imperfection, embodiment, mutual empowerment, community and intimacy.

Don’t try to manifest abundance by just thinking about abundance, but by being it; BE abundance in your body, in your sense experience, in the offerings you give to local birds or animals or mythbeings, in your generosity to those around you.

Don’t try to manifest abundance by just thinking about abundance, but by being it; BE abundance in your body, in your sense experience, in the offerings you give to local birds or animals or mythbeings, in your generosity to those around you. Be abundance in your heartfelt wish for others to be seen in all their beauty and vulnerability, in the gifts that you give that support other’s deepest needs and desires. Allow life to become deliciously aroused by pouring abundance towards you. BE a kind of generous, praising, superabundance sensuality body to draw or magnetise abundance towards you, so you become overwhelmingly delicious to all abundance.

Don’t just follow your plan, follow the person. Don’t just follow what you want to happen, follow what is actually happening.

Don’t just follow your plan, follow the person. Don’t just follow what you want to happen, follow what is actually happening. Don’t just help in the way that you want to, help in the way life needs. Drop the conceptual plan and follow nature. Loosen attachment to the plan and follow the unusually beautiful, the strange, weird, troubling or surprising.

The medicine of BEING safety, in an immensely attractive embodied supergroundedness.

Behind the shadow like energy of desperately searching for love, safety and security, when awareness is brought to them and they are fully and tenderly held and processed in an embodied way, there may be the medicine of BEING safety, in an immensely attractive embodied supergroundedness. Superground and root yourself to such an extent that you become incredibly attractive to all love bounty and abundance.

It seems to be a frequent occurence that people think they are dying or going crazy, when really something new, wild and miraculous and helpful to the earth and the human community is being born in them.

It seems to be a frequent occurence that people think they are dying or going crazy, when really something new, wild and miraculous and helpful to the earth and the human community is being born in them. There is often a kind of ‘small death’ as many parts need to to be broken down and reconstituted. What is needed is often someone to help them to recognize that this process is not just some terrifying thing, but something necessary and helpful to all, someone who can act as a kind of midwife to the birth of this new being

Ancestors don’t just stay the same. Perhaps when honoured by some gratitude, brave offering or healing, or perhaps due to some other unforeseen reason, they may change.

Ancestors don’t just stay the same. Perhaps when honoured by some gratitude, brave offering or healing, or perhaps due to some other unforeseen reason, they may change. They may talk to each other across time. The magicians may teach the warriors. The warriors may teach the magicians. The farmers may teach the warriors. The magicians and druids may teach the farmers. The hunter-gatherers and shamans may teach the farmers and they may teach the ‘modern’ ancestors too.
